“I don’t want it to be fine. I want it to be exciting.”

Synopsis

Jeanine struggles to maintain a dignified and orderly life in the city, but the reality is that this simple goal is harder to achieve with every step she takes. Dirty Crusty explores the limits of relationships, spaces and identities, and exposes how the world pushes us to unsuspected limits. Clare Barron wrote this text in 2012, before #MeToo, before being aware that she had suffered a sexual assault and before being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She confesses that writing this text was key to being able to name the two realities that accompanied her and about which she spoke without identifying. With irreverent language, the author, a revelation of the New York underground scene, brings us closer to the difficulty of surviving in our days and finding our place in the world through an anti-romantic comedy that navigates between acid humor, discomfort and disorder.
